Malin Balasooriya

Malin Balasooriya serves as Vice President, National Accounts Casualty, where he leads the strategy, growth, and underwriting performance of CNA Canada’s National Accounts Casualty business. In this role, he focuses on strengthening broker partnerships, advancing underwriting specialization, and driving disciplined, profitable growth across the portfolio.

With more than 15 years of experience in the Canadian insurance market, Malin brings a strong combination of technical underwriting expertise, strategic leadership, and commercial insight. He has led large and complex casualty portfolios, overseen reinsurance strategy, and driven portfolio profitability.

Prior to joining CNA Canada, Malin served as Chief Executive Officer of Cobalt Specialty, where he was responsible for the organization’s strategy, underwriting direction, and operational performance. Earlier in his career, he held senior underwriting and leadership roles with KEWA Canada, Northbridge Insurance, Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, RSA, and AIG.

Known for his collaborative leadership style, market credibility, and disciplined underwriting approach, Malin is passionate about developing talent, fostering high-performing teams, and building lasting partnerships with brokers and clients.
