CNA NetProtect® provides the basic liability coverage necessary for any company that relies on computer networks to run its business. Designed for small- to mid-sized companies, NetProtect Essential® provides information and cyber coverage when a security breach results in privacy injury; identity theft; network damage resulting in theft of others’ information in their care, including trade secrets; and infection of others’ networks. NetProtect Essential® also covers costs incurred by a company to comply with applicable laws requiring notification to customers or users if a security breach could potentially compromise private information.

NetProtect Essential® Coverages 

Network damage to a third party’s system:

• That prevents an authorized user from gaining access to the system 
• Resulting from the transmission of a virus from the insured's system
• Due to the unauthorized acces or disclosure of information residing on the insured's network or the network of a third party

Privacy injury and identity theft which result from a breach of network security:

• That includes the unauthorized disclosure of nonpublic private information such as an individual’s name, address, telephone number, account relationships, social insurance numbers or credit card numbers
• Resulting from the failure to comply with any applicable privacy laws; in the U.S., e.g., HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), GLBA (Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act), COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act); in Canada, e.g., Canadian Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act; and in Europe, e.g., the European Union Data Protection Act

•  Retail and wholesale establishments that accept credit card transactions – online and offline
•  Service occupations, such as printers, accountants and lawyers
•  Manufacturers
•  Financial services, such as banks, insurance brokers and mortgage brokers
•  Medical offices, pharmaceutical companies and other healthcare service providers
•  Any company that stores their employees’ non-public private information on a network

NetProtect Essential® Features

•  $25,000 sub-limit included in oneworld™ Casualty Form. Limits up to $2,000,000 available
•  Coverage is written on a claims-made basis with defense within limits
•  A sublimit for regulatory expenses is included that will reimburse the insured for expenses incurred to comply with notification laws
•  Coverage that extends to the entire network, not just websites, even when that network is managed by a third party
•  Minimum premium $500
